I have eaten at several Thai restaurants in Queens. In March 2006 a friend invited me to dinner at Thailand Cafe. I was very impressed with the pla muk (friend calamari) which was very light- and not the typical calamari soaked in oil. I have also eaten the Pad Thai. Being partial to shrimp I usually order the Pad Thai shrimp. As an appetizer I greatly enjoy the crispy spring rolls. These are very light wih a minimal amount of oil. The restaurant does not use lard, pig fat, which is a staple of chinese restaurants. One interesting feature is that Planet Thailand has a variation of shu mei, that is made with chicken. When you eat shu mei in a Chinese restaurant, pork fat (lard) constitutes approximately 60% of the appetizer. I enthusiastically recommend Thailand Cafe. Jerry
